MOT Checklist
Why do I need an MOT?

MOT testing is a legal requirement for any vehicle of 3 years and older. It ensures that your vehicle meets the minimum road standard requirements. Also in order to renew vehicle tax and insurance certificates, a valid MOT certificate must be obtained on an annual basis.

What happens in my car fails the MOT?

If your car fails the MOT, it cannot be legally driven until the required repairs are completed and the vehicle has passed the MOT test. Repairs can often be carried out on the same day, and free re-testing is provided, should you choose to have the work done at Town Garage.

What if my MOT is expired?

You must renew your MOT every year in order to comply with road standard requirements. You can book an MOT up to 28 days before its due date. At Town Garage, we provide a free reminder service which alerts you one month before your MOT is due, allowing you plenty of time to book an appointment.

Legislation permits you to drive to your selected test centre, providing you have previously arranged an appointment. However, your vehicle must still be insured and you are advised to take the most direct route possible in order to minimise any unforeseeable circumstances.

What if I lose my MOT certificate?

At Town Garage, we can replace any lost MOT certificate for a small charge of £10.
